This advanced continuing education course provides licensed therapists with comprehensive strategies for working with late-diagnosed attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) clients. Participants will explore the complex psychological, emotional, and neurological impacts of unrecognized ADHD across adult life stages, developing nuanced therapeutic approaches for healing and empowerment.
This 2-hour course will examine the unique challenges of late-diagnosis, including internalized shame, masking behaviors, comorbid conditions, and the long-term psychological effects of undiagnosed neurodevelopmental differences. Therapists will learn evidence-based interventions that address both the neurological aspects of ADHD and the profound emotional experiences of clients who have spent years misunderstanding their own neurological profile.
This advanced continuing education webinar is designed to help mental health professionals:
Statement of program material's accuracy, utility, and risks: This course provides critical, research-supported strategies for supporting late-diagnosed ADHD clients, offering transformative clinical insights. While the material presents powerful therapeutic approaches, participants should be prepared for the emotional complexity of working with clients processing long-term misdiagnosis. The primary potential risk involves emotional activation for both clients and therapists, balanced by the significant potential for healing and self-understanding.
