Aurora is a city in north-central Colorado. Portions of the city are located in Adams, Douglas, and Arapahoe counties. Aurora covers 155 square miles. The city was incorporated in 1928.

Mental Health in Aurora
Sworn members of the Aurora Police Department serve as “Certified Peace Officers.” These officers may initiate an “Emergency Mental Health Hold” on residents in certain situations. If a resident with a mental health concern appears to be a danger to themselves or others, or if they appear to be severely disabled, bystanders may call a certified peace officer for assistance.
The peace officer will take the affected resident to an approved facility for evaluation and monitoring. Aurora residents may be held for up to 72 hours at a treatment center.
