The town of Bloomfield is situated in Hartford County, Connecticut. It covers a land area of 26 square miles and was incorporated in 1835.

Bloomfield has a population of 21,400 people. The population increased by 5% from 2010 to 2017. Over 1,300 veterans have made the town of Bloomfield their home. Among residents age 25 and over, 35% have a bachelor’s degree.

Mental Health in Bloomfield

Substance abuse is a growing problem in Hartford County. Between January and April 2018, the county reported over 1,000 cases of suspected drug overdose. This was more than the number of cases reported by any other county in the state.  

The Bloomfield Police Department has a Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) that responds to individuals who are experiencing a mental health crisis.
