Dearborn is the second largest city in Wayne County, Michigan. The city was founded in 1786 and encompasses a land area of 24 square miles. It was incorporated in 1929.

There are around 94,500 people living in Dearborn. The population decreased by 4% between 2010 and 2017. Of adults age 25 and older, 80% have completed high school, and 29% have a bachelor’s degree.

Mental Health in Dearborn

Opioid addiction is on the rise in Dearborn. In 2016, first responders in the city began training in the use of Naloxone, an opioid antidote. The training is ongoing and is offered by the Detroit Wayne Mental Health Authority. Individuals who complete the training are given an overdose kit containing Naloxone. In 2016, the Dearborn Fire Department administered the drug 50 times.

According to a report from the Wayne County Medical Examiner’s Office, there were 848 overdose deaths in the county in 2017.
