Wake Forest is a town in North Carolina. The town is located mostly in Wake County, though parts of it run into Franklin County. It covers 15 square miles. 

Wake Forest has a population of 42,000 people. The population increased by 40% from 2010 to 2017. Among residents age 25 or older, 54% have a bachelor’s degree or higher.

Mental Health in Wake Forest

In 2015, the Wake County Sheriff’s Office and the Wake County Human Services established a Drug Overdose Prevention Coalition. The coalition aims to help stem the rising incidence of heroin and opioid overdoses in the county. It educates residents on drug addiction and assists with the treatment of individuals who overdose. 

Since the start of 2018, there has been an expansion of inpatient mental health services in Wake County. 124 new psychiatric beds are now available across three hospitals in the county. This represents an increase of close to 50% over the previous year.
