Scarsdale is a village in Westchester County, New York. It covers 7 square miles. An English nobleman settled the area in 1701, naming it after his birthplace in Europe. Scarsdale was incorporated as a village in 1915.

Scarsdale has 18,000 inhabitants. The population increased by 6% from 2010 to 2017. The ethnic composition of Scarsdale is 77% white, 14% Asian, 4% Hispanic, and 1% black. 

Eighty-nine percent of Scarsdale residents are United States citizens (compared to 93% nationwide). Foreign-born people account for 23% of the village population. Twenty-six percent of residents have a native language that is not English.
