More Info About My Practice
Navigating the modern world's stresses can be overwhelming. It's common to seek escape from difficult emotions and thoughts and to disconnect from oneself. My aim is to help clients feel their emotions, allow them to pass, and liberate their minds from destructive thinking patterns. Throughout our sessions, I pull from a variety of therapeutic approaches including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and trauma-informed modalities.
As someone born and raised in Turkey, I bring empathy and personal insight into the challenges faced by minorities, and I have a special place in my heart for working with individuals from all minority groups. I am committed to provide a culturally sensitive practice where clients can be authentic without fear of judgment.
Outside of sessions, I enjoy spending time with my family and trying to teach myself new skills —recently, gardening and knitting. I love thrifting, walking around a lake and trying new coffee shops around the twin cities.
My Guiding Ethical Principles
I want to create a safe relationship where clients feel they can reveal sides of themselves that they may not have shown even to themselves. I see therapy as a journey toward acceptance of themselves and their stories as a whole, embracing both the roses and the thorns. My goal is to guide clients in developing greater self-compassion and living lives aligned with their values. I am committed to creating the safest environment and welcoming space for those who don't fit into society. I believe in decolonizing therapy by integrating anti-oppression and anti-racist principles into my practice.
