My Approach to Helping
She is a licensed professional counselor specializing in treating complex trauma in first responders, adults, and attachment trauma in children, and adolescents, as well as other co-occurring disorders. She earned a Master’s degree in professional counseling with a specialization in trauma, abuse, and deprivation from Ottawa University and a Master’s degree in psychology. She is certified in eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) by EMDRIA. She received training and consultation to adapt EMDR for children, incorporating elements of attachment therapy and play therapy interventions. She is a practitioner and educator of Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI). She is one of only 10 clinicians worldwide to have completed the TBRI counselor’s manual training to collect data for Texas Christian University’s evidence-based research. She specializes in treating trauma with families and adults who have a variety of mental health needs using interventions from current neuroscience research. Her therapeutic approach is person-centered and trauma-informed. She views the client’s experiences through a family systems lens, incorporating strengths and solutions so that clients can be an integral part of their own healing process.
