My Approach to Helping
I specialize in working with adults struggling with anxiety, depression, attention-deficit hyperactivity (ADHD), burnout, life transitions, grief, loss and relationship issues. Challenging emotions, thoughts, and vulnerabilities can feel overwhelming and I believe in building a more personal therapeutic approach. The therapeutic journey begins with listening and understanding. We all want to be heard and understood and you are not just another appointment on the schedule.
I offer private pay and out-of-network telehealth therapy in Michigan, Colorado, Florida, New Mexico, and South Dakota. If you live in a different state, please check with your state to see if they accept licensed clinicians from other states for mental health therapy.
The hardest part is taking the first step and asking for “help.” Most of us like to think of ourselves as independent, competent, and “tough.” Asking for help and attending therapy doesn’t mean that we are not those things. At some point in life, we all struggle with painful life transitions, emotions, and thoughts. We rely on and need one another in different capacities at various stages in our lives. I would be honored to accompany you through a journey of self-exploration during the therapeutic process.
More Info About My Practice
I have always dreamed of starting a private practice where clients feel a true connection to their therapist during the therapeutic experience without shame or judgment. I am a licensed LCSW in five states and have 12 years of clinical experience serving diverse populations in various treatment settings. I specialize in working with adults and utilize a broad range of therapeutic modalities such as but not limited to CBT, motivational interviewing, psychodynamic modality, strengths-based approach, EFT, dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), grief work, and mindfulness techniques. I also apply a holistic therapeutic approach for the purpose of encouraging clients to understand the connection between the mind and body.
I received my bachelor’s degree from the University of San Francisco and completed my master’s degree in clinical social work at the University of Denver. I completed my practicum at the University of Colorado Hospital (UCH) Psychiatry Clinic. Throughout the course of my time at UCH, I did comprehensive diagnostic assessments, presented cases to a team of mental health professionals, built a solid caseload of individual therapy cases, and successfully engaged clients in the therapeutic process. I also facilitated a weekly psychotherapy group and attended group supervision, grand rounds, and weekly classes with residents to further enhance learning and growth.
