My Approach to Helping

The creative adjustments you have made through out your life have supported you. However, are you now finding what has worked for you in the past, is no longer effective, nor fulfilling? Through dialogue, sensory awareness, and embodied experimenting in the here and now (gestalt psychotherapy/coaching), a deeper awareness of yourself, and how to break free from your old patterns may emerge- if you are up to doing the work. Our work together will ask you to look beyond what you know, and it will challenge you to your core, to look at yourself with new eyes. The authentic engagement, and risk taking that we both will share, will be demanding at times, and at other times quite sweet- we will be relating, finding meaning, getting creative, and going beyond our perceived limits. This honest, productive, and satisfying relational contact will support your need for something different personally andor professionally. My experiences as an educator for over 10 years has shown me that children are the best at this way of being. They are totally present with what is, they question without shame, and they take responsibility when given the freedom of choice. My personal work of getting out of my head and getting back to my senses, learning to accept that slow can be fast, and that my vulnerability is my new strength, has helped me to overcome childhood trauma, addictions, mental health issues and ADHD, failed relationships, and major life and career obstacles and changes. I can hold the space for you to do the same if that is what you desire.

I am an existentialist, and I have faith that we can each find our path to an authentic existence in this absurd world together, we just need support for greater awareness and contact. Reluctant to take a risk, and work with people only in my presence has taught me how my beliefs, rules, interjects, whatever you might call them, of what a therapy session "should" look like have limited my experiences and impact. Going beyond my perceived limitations, I have learned that I can see, just as well with my ears, that at times I can be even more creative, and ask different questions of you when you are not physically in my sight. These powerful insights have helped me to be open to technology, and reaching you, where ever you may be.

Personally feeling like an alien at times, and wondering where are "my people" hiding on this planet, has been tough. However, by staying with my own process, I have come to some new awareness' that even if "my people" aren't in my own backyard, I can make contact. Please reach out and contact me. I will not be able to fix you, however, I will be able to support and accept you.

Why Going to Therapy Does Not Mean You are Weak or Flawed

I am a contradiction ... as I may not be in any position to judge (see below)... this is my judgement.

Weak people don't embark on the work of a warrior- the searching of the soul to feel, heal, and steal back what is their birth right- their authentic self, their life.

Weak people continue to do what they have always done, unaware and out of contact.

Weak people are afraid to take a risk, open their minds and hearts, and experiment with going to therapy, experiment with living.

My View on the Nature of 'Disorders'

I am in no position to judge. However, I am in a position to support you, and accept you for who, and where you are in your life's journey. I do not believe in attending to labels or diagnosis'. I do believe in attending to what is, how you are experiencing your life in the here and now, and how we can work together to find "ease" within the "dis- ease" with the creative adjustments you have had to make along the way.
