My Approach to Helping
**CURRENTLY ACCEPTING NEW CLIENTS**
I specialize in a type of therapy that believes your problem or issue is external to you as a person. It lives in the world, not in you. In my practice we put that problem out in front of us, then step back and examine it. Looking at the problem as separate from you helps you understand it better and allows you to you experience yourself in new ways. I use EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing) and Narrative therapy to treat survivors of trauma, whether that is Big “T” (profound and debilitating) or Little “t” (smaller “everyday” or less pronounced events).
In my practice we look at how the events and circumstances of your life have impacted the story you tell yourself about yourself. I believe our stories that can be edited, rewritten and changed. The act of rewriting it helps you create a new, more authentic identity. I have witnessed my clients experience healing through the empowering experience of doing just this. Even subtle shifts in how you tell your story can make positive impact in your life.
In our work together, you don’t need to hide the thing about you that others—or you—find problematic, difficult or unacceptable. You get to be unique and interesting. I’m not afraid of what’s going on with you, no matter how big or scary you think it is. On the contrary, I welcome it.
