My Approach to Helping

Carl Jung said, "Even a happy life cannot be without a measure of darkness, and the word happy would lose its meaning if it were not balanced by sadness." Life can be challenging at times. The pain, anger, sadness, loss, hopelessness or other negative feelings you are suffering now may seem intolerable, but it is NOT permanent. You CAN feel better!

I am a bilingual bi-cultural (Mandarin, English) Marriage and Family Therapist, licensed in California. I am also a certified Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) therapist through ICEEFT. With a caring and non-judgmental approach, I honor each person's uniqueness and support one's "individuation," a process of developing authentic connections with one's self and others. My goal as a therapist is to support individuals navigating through challenges and attaining a fulfilling life. Together, we can ease your suffering, discover the root causes of your concerns, and implement positive changes to meet your individualized needs.

More Info About My Practice

My experience includes working with individuals who have struggled with trauma, identity, substances, and a range of somatic and psychiatric symptoms that inhibit one's potential to pursue individuation. My approach involves exploring the unconscious through various modalities, such as dream analysis and active imagination. I also utilize other approaches to meet individual needs, such as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Mindfulness-based interventions.

Couples and families often get caught in repetitive negative cycles that seem impossible to navigate through. For couple and family work, I utilize Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) to help them understand and break free from the negative cycles in their interactions, and to find ways to reconnect and rebuild their secure attachments. EFT has long been a gold standard for couple therapy and is best known for its effective, non-pathological, well-tested, and evidence-based intervention for both couple and family therapy.

People often describe me as compassionate, easy to talk to, humorous and insightful. I am committed to providing an empathetic environment to support you in pursuing individuation and attaining a fulfilling life.
