My Approach to Helping

My name is Alison, and I am a licensed clinical social worker. I specialize in treating adults with anxiety, depression, family conflict, and relationship issues. I combine several approaches to treatment, including but not limited to CBT, psychodynamic, mindfulness, attachment-based, and strengths-based. I tailor my approach to each individual client based on your needs. I will provide a safe, trusting environment to empower you through your healing journey. My passion is to help you identify and change unhelpful patterns, build a healthy relationship with yourself and others, and improve your daily functioning.

I approach psychotherapy by meeting you where you are at without judgment. I integrate a combination of therapeutic modalities including but not limited to CBT, psychodynamic, mindfulness, attachment-based, and strengths-based. I tailor my approach to each individual client based on their individual needs.

I specialize in treating adults with anxiety, depression, family conflict, and relationship issues. Along with the various therapeutic approaches previously mentioned, I also utilize some inner child work and re-parenting approaches when appropriate to help clients to address unmet needs, rebuild self-esteem and establish self-trust.

I communicate during therapy using an upbeat tone. My tone can also be soft in offering emotional support. My demeanor is empathic and supportive. I will utilize active listening through each session to build trust and establish rapport.

I was drawn to become a therapist based on my own experiences with depression, anxiety, and family trauma. I obtained my Master's Degree in Social Work and have received training in Substance Use Disorders, Intergenerational Trauma, Trauma-Focused CBT, Narrative Therapy, Eating Disorders, and Mental Health First Aid.

Successful care and progress can look like mood improvement, making positive changes, beginning to identify and meet unmet needs from their past, challenging unhelpful patterns, and setting healthy boundaries.

I conduct my first session by getting you to know you and building rapport. We will spend time gaining information about your social history. We will explore what brings you into therapy today and define the goals you have regarding your treatment to ensure we are a good fit.
