My Approach to Helping
Hi, I am Allison Adcock. I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor in North Carolina. I specialize in substance use, addiction, and eating disorders. I take a client-centered, values-based approach when conducting therapy and work with clients to set goals based on their core values, needs, and wants.
I primarily use Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Dialectical Behavior Therapy.
I treat ages 13+, male, female, and non-binary individuals. Conditions within my scope include depression, anxiety, substance use and addiction, and eating disorders. I also have experience treating individuals with mood and adjustment disorders.
I am a highly sensitive person with an empathetic and nurturing style. I am client-centered, curious, and passionate.
I like helping people. As I began my journey in the human services sector, I loved the counseling relationship and therapeutic tools used to aid in optimal health. Also, I am passionate about ending the stigma that surrounds mental health.
I take a collaborative approach in guiding clients toward their core values to set SMART goals. This approach includes motivational interviewing and person-centered modalities.
We will discuss their reasons for seeking counseling and set reasonable expectations and goals for the therapeutic relationship.
