My Approach to Helping

Hello! I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist providing telehealth services across California. I enjoy working with adolescents, adults, and families to reduce symptoms of depression, anxiety, trauma, low-self esteem, and low self-confidence. I also have experience guiding clients through issues related to parenting, prenatal and postpartum mental health issues, young adult issues, and women's issues. I utilize a trauma-informed approach to reduce client's symptoms and achieve desired goals in therapy. I am passionate about helping reduce negative core beliefs many people received during childhood ("I'm not good enough" or "I'm unlovable") so that my clients can live they life they want.

My theoretical approach to therapy includes utilizing Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), and mindfulness. I am certified in EMDR and have specialized training in ACT. I am a collaborative therapist who works with clients to identify goals for therapy.

What I Say to People Concerned about the Therapy Process

It is normal to feel intimidated and overwhelmed when beginning the therapy process, especially if you have had a negative experience in the past. After finding a therapist with the education, training, and experience you're looking for, the most important thing is the therapeutic relationship between you and your therapist. The therapeutic relationship is probably unlike any other relationship in your life. I work to provide clients with a space that is warm, nurturing, and non-judgmental. I encourage my clients to approach therapy at their own pace because I believe clients make the most progress when they are comfortable and able to trust the therapeutic process. In our first few sessions, I spend time getting to know new clients and creating goals for our time in therapy together. In subsequent sessions, we will spend time focusing on working towards the goals you have, as well as working through specific issues that may arise during our time working together.

Why Going to Therapy Does Not Mean You are Weak or Flawed

The stigma associated with seeing a therapist is decreasing but many people still believe that they are not sick enough or struggling enough to seek help. If you are thinking about whether therapy can help you, it can! Therapy is a space where you can identify issues you want to resolve and goals you want to achieve. It is also a place where you can focus on the strengths you have, the progress you are making, and the good things you are already doing. I think that seeking therapy is a brave choice because it can be intimidating and overwhelming. Whether I am the right fit for you as a therapist, I hope you find a therapist who is able to help you identify your strengths and work towards living the kind of life you want to live.
