My Approach to Helping
My name is Amanda Noel, and I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) who has been practicing for over fifteen years. I earned my Master of Arts degree in Counseling Psychology from Lewis University. Recently, I earned credentials as a Certified Compassion Fatigue Professional and a Certified Clinical Anxiety Treatment Professional. I work with adults specializing in stress, anxiety, depression, relationship issues, self-esteem, and life transitions. Creating a strong relationship and supportive environment where individuals are respected and free to speak their minds without judgment is essential to me. Employing an eclectic approach (treating every person as an individual and understanding that therapy is NOT a one size fits all), I will work with YOU to help you meet YOUR goals. I am experienced in Positive Psychology, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, ACT, Mindfulness, Motivational Interviewing, and Person-Centered frameworks and incorporate strategies that best align with you and your goals.
My experience lies in working with adults experiencing anxiety, stress, and depression, desires to improve relationships, increase self-esteem and navigate life transitions. Understanding that starting therapy can be scary, I create a safe and welcoming environment that allows you to say what you are thinking without judgment. I don't give advice; I actively listen and ask questions that will enable you to determine your best path. Drawn to the counseling field at a young age, I understood that everyone has a story and everyone deserves to be heard. Goal setting must be personalized and driven by the individual. Setting goals can happen throughout the therapeutic relationship, and sessions are guided by goals with a consistent focus on assessing and celebrating progress. I believe in helping individuals set realistic goals that are broken down into smaller goals as a way to foster growth.
Unfortunately, we cannot solve all of the world's problems during our first session, but we can begin to build the foundation of a trusting and supportive relationship. My goal is for you to leave our first session feeling heard and filled with hope.
