My Approach to Helping
I was raised as a child of a Vietnam veteran with PTSD. In the 70s and 80s, mental health was not a priority for many people. I saw firsthand what mental illnesses could do to individuals and families. I worked in restaurants and raised three children. I chose to break generational toxic patterns and cycles. That Is what brings me to where I am today. My approach is a combination of various theories, including but not limited to CBT, motivational interviewing, and solution-focused. Some of my therapeutic strengths are challenging irrational thoughts, creating goals, and managing symptoms of mental illness. I enjoy working with adolescents and young adults. I get it.
The modalities I enjoy using our CBT, REBT, solution-focused, motivational interviewing, humanistic, gestalt, and others as needed. One of my specialties is pinpointing areas of concern and working to manage the symptoms.
