My Approach to Helping
My name is Angela Hastings, and I am a social worker licensed in Michigan with 10 years of experience in the clinical field. I have worked with clients on an individual basis to address crisis intervention, life transitions, and chronic anxiety and depression. My areas of passion also include crises of faith, body image, self-harm, and eating issues.
My counseling style is warm, interactive, and dynamic. I see my role as that of a mentor and coach. I believe counseling is best done with a positive relationship and unconditional compassion. I focus on client-centered therapy with clients setting the goals and pace of our sessions. I believe clients know themselves best, and I am coming alongside to support the journey! My counseling style tends to be eclectic, and I take from solution-focused, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DB)T, and motivational interviewing models.
I have worked with many different clients with many different backgrounds. I have had a main focus on trauma responses, women’s issues, depression, and anxiety.
I strive to create an open and honest relationship where clients can feel comfortable sharing. Honesty and trust are the basis of therapy and change.
