My Approach to Helping
Being trained in a depth psychological approach I work well with individuals seeking meaning and understanding about the issues that have brought them into therapy. Each person has a unique story and sometimes the unfolding of this story can be painful. We can work through this together at a pace comfortable for you. Engaging in psychotherapy is an invaluable gift and the outcome is largely based on your therapist's experience, orientation, and perhaps most importantly, the relationship between you and your therapist.
More Info About My Practice
Individuals come to therapy for a number of reasons. In my practice, those that I work well with report feeling safe, listened to, and deeply understood. Over time I have found comfort in knowing that 'what is done' in therapy by the therapist not as important as how the work takes shape, or is done between the client and the therapist.
On the Fence About Going to Therapy?
Starting therapy can create anxiety, especially if this is something you've never done before. Just the thought of saying out loud, to a complete stranger, the words that you've kept hidden might prevent you from calling to schedule that first appointment. But not calling is not the answer, because not calling is not helping. What actually happens during the first appointment is the opposite of what is feared. Client's report feeling a great relief after sharing their struggles with a trained professional and, over time, they report feeling more at ease because the issues bringing them into therapy, they notice, have less influence over their daily lives.
