My Approach to Helping
One of the biggest fears about counseling is that it won't work. We have all seen the images of counselors sitting in their chairs, with their pen and notepad, ready to psychoanalyze their clients. What if you could just have a conversation, tell your story, share worries, and have someone empathetically listen, collaborate with you on ways to reduce fears, improve communication, or strengthen your relationships. That is how I work..
I can help navigate many different mental health concerns. Are racing uncontrollable thoughts keeping you up at night. The world is a very scary place with many unknowns. Finding ways to shift negative thinking into postive thinking and find alternatives is the bases of cognitive behavioral therapy. I will teach you many strategies to quiet your brain and let you rest.
Is there an overwhelming dark cloud that follows you everyday? That is depression. I can help reduce these feelings and help you starting enjoying life again. We will do this together by talking, identifying sadness triggers, and putting tools in place to overcome the depression.
Is arguing, fighting, or an inability to compromise with your partner causing marital or relationship stress? Most couples fight about the silliest things. I teach my clients how to communicate better, use proven conflict resolution tools that promotes shared solutions to help you get off the rollercoaster and on the same page. Losing trust for your partner due to a betrayal or an infidelity is horrible. It leaves the injured party questioning their self-worth and the injuring party remorseful. Together we can overcome the hurt and rebuild a better stronger relationship.
Throughout our time together, I will provide a safe space to talk about any concern and explore ways to move past issues to a brighter, happier future. If you are struggling with motivation, energy, desire, or conflict you may just need to talk to caring individual who will listen and help by providing strategies and tools in every session.
I see many clients dealing with anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, parenthood, and career concerns. I know how difficult it can feel to get up each day with the heaviness of these concerns. It feels as if your feet are cemented to the ground and you just can't move one way or the other. Together will find ways to get you moving.
My approach is one of care, compassion, and collaboration. It is non- judgmental, tailored to your specific needs, and plays to your strengths. My practice is ever evolving and changing based on new evidence based research to provide the best care.
