My Approach to Helping
Therapy is something you and I create together which involves patience, trust, and hard work. I help clients think about what has kept them from creating the life they truly envision for themselves and help them move forward in making that life a reality. When you have space to reflect and explore possibilities, you will discover new ways of relating and will figure out how you can do things differently. The interventions I use will help you understand your longstanding behaviour patterns and negative perceptions that have been getting in the way of being fulfilled.
My approach is informed by multiple styles of therapy:
-Psychodynamic-Understanding your family origins and connecting what was lacking in the past to how you relate in your current relationships. I also explore dreams and how they relate to one's unconscious.
-Relational- Use the relationship in therapy as a vehicle to understand how you relate outside the session.
-Cognitive-Behavioural- Exploring your thoughts and understanding how they affect your actions and the way you create meaning.
-Creative Arts- Use journaling, drawing, and writing as tools for expression.
