My Approach to Helping
I have 20+ years of experience counseling individuals, families and couples. I create a safe and authentic relationship with my clients. I believe counseling is a place to welcome our perfectly imperfect nature and to change what is not working in our lives. We are all deserving of happiness and fulfillment, as well as the opportunity to share it with others. If you are seeking change, I can help.

Ultimately, I believe the goal of therapy is to empower you to successfully and confidently manage your life independent of therapy. Life is full of challenges and we are all capable and deserving of the skills to overcome our obstacles.
Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With
I specialize in relational issues, trauma, and resolution of the core issues and conflicts contributing to each client's concern. I strive to create a warm, yet goal oriented environment. In my years of experience, I have found that most of what clients seek treatment for is related to boundaries and misguided beliefs about self. Some of us let too much in or let the wrong people in, while others struggle to let things out or let others in. The source of difficulty is often an incorrectly written narrative (story) about ourselves and how we fit in the world. I help with correcting self-defeating narratives and optimizing the boundary system to achieve and maintain happiness.
My View on the Purpose of Psychotherapy
Psychotherapy (counseling) is the process of establishing a safe environment in which new thoughts, behaviors and responses can form. It is a place to share without worry of judgement and to collaboratively work toward change. Psychotherapy uses well-researched concepts and interventions to clarify the origins of and solutions to troublesome patterns or behaviors. It is also a place to seek validation for our reality and to correct any aspects that may be distorted. Therapy can address circumstances ranging from a need for personal enrichment to a need to stop serious and life-threatening patterns. Life is not without its challenges. Counseling can aid in the journey to wellness by providing support, wisdom and partnership along the way.
