Mental Health in Chapel Hill

Suicide is a concern in Orange County, North Carolina. The county had 62 suicide-related deaths from 2011 to 2015. Eleven of these fatalities occurred in 2015. 

In September 2017, Chapel Hill held an open training session on suicide prevention. Attendees 
learned the strategies of QPR, or Question, Persuade, and Refer. These tactics are designed to help people considering suicide get treatment.

Chapel Hill holds a support group for residents who have lost a loved one to suicide. Sessions are free and occur every other Thursday.
