My Approach to Helping
I work with adults who are experiencing depression or anxiety andor who are going through difficult life changes, helping them manage distress, practice self-acceptance, and find a healing way forward.
I use a trauma-informed, person-led, recovery-oriented approach as I believe that people heal and grow through relationships based on respect and authentic, mutual dialogue.

How My Own Struggles Made Me a Better Therapist
I decided to become a therapist after experiencing major depression in my thirties. While I was lucky to have found a mental health clinician during that time who truly believed in me and in my ability to recover from the depression, I also encountered other clinicians whose pathology-based assertions and prognoses left me feeling disrespected and demoralized.
I chose to enter graduate school in order to provide therapeutic services to others that were based on mutual respect and genuine self-regard so that those in crisis might be able to benefit from an approach to mental health issues that was non-pathologizing and recovery oriented.
