My Approach to Helping
You might be here because something’s not working the way it used to. Maybe you’ve been carrying too much for too long—navigating relationships, caregiving, systems that never truly saw you—and you’re ready for support that doesn’t require you to explain or perform your pain.
I work with adults, parents, and families who are living through complexity: trauma that lingers in the body, identities that have been questioned or erased, and relationships shaped by loss, love, and longing. If you’re navigating the grief of what wasn’t given, or the fear of what might still be lost, you’re not alone.
In our work together, I move at the pace of trust. I bring a steady, grounded presence—someone who stays with you through the messy, tender, beautiful parts of healing. My approach is deeply relational, somatic, and socially conscious. We might explore how past experiences live in your nervous system, how parts of you learned to protect or disconnect, and how to begin restoring safety in your body and relationships.
I believe healing happens in connection—through co-regulation, through embodiment, through witnessing what’s been held in silence. You don’t need to have it all figured out before reaching out. Wherever you are in your process, we can begin there.
More Info About My Practice
I’m part of Clayre Sessoms Psychotherapy Inc., a small, values-driven practice rooted in relational, somatic, and justice-informed care. We support adults, families, and communities through one-on-one therapy, relationship therapy, and group offerings that prioritize connection, embodiment, and repair.
As a therapist, I focus on walking alongside clients who are navigating trauma, dissociation, identity exploration, addiction, and complex family systems. I’m especially passionate about supporting parents of trans, nonbinary, and gender-expansive youth as they navigate affirmation, family dynamics, and systems that don’t always reflect their values.
Our practice welcomes those seeking care that is affirming, non-pathologizing, and grounded in deep presence. Alongside individual therapy, we are expanding to offer peer support groups, healing workshops, and community-based experiences that honour slowness, sustainability, and collective liberation.
We meet online in Vancouver, BC, on unceded Coast Salish territories. My practice is inclusive and trauma-responsive, guided by the belief that healing becomes possible when we move at the pace of trust.
My Role as a Therapist
My role is to be with you steadily, respectfully, and without agenda as you explore what healing means for you. I don't believe in fixing or diagnosing your humanity. Instead, I offer a space where your experiences are honoured, your nervous system is respected, and your truth doesn't need translation.
As a therapist, I listen for what's been unsaid or unheard. I pay attention to how your body holds your story. I help you untangle the protective strategies that once kept you safe but now keep you stuck. I bring curiosity, compassion, and a deep belief in your capacity to heal and grow at your own pace, in your own way.
Therapy with me isn't about becoming someone new. It's about returning to who you've always been.
