My Approach to Helping
My style is warm and I greatly respect the people I work with. We may be an especially good fit to work together if you are motivated to create change in your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors and you see therapy as a collaborative process of mutual learning and new possibility. I see counseling as an investment in the areas of life that are ultimately most significant to our wellbeing.
Therapeutic relationships can help you build a greater sense of ease in your relationships with yourself and others, and with the unavoidable challenges of life. My mission is to provide a safe environment in which you can grow, come to know yourself more deeply, and find ways to move closer to your goals.
More Info About My Practice
I have enjoyed counseling in a private practice setting beginning in 2016 in my clinical internship under the supervision of Dr. Matt Goldenberg at the Rainbow Health Center in Olympia, WA. Before that I counseled in community mental health and provided in-school counseling at two public schools in Washington.
I earned a master's degree from the MA Psychology: Counseling Specialization program at the Leadership Institute of Seattle (LIOS) under Saybrook University and a bachelor's degree from the Evergreen State College where I studied psychology, alternative education, leadership, and diversity and liberation.
Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With
In addition to a general practice, people often seek me out to explore topics related to sexuality (including pleasure, connection, shame and growth), gender identity, cultivating satisfying relationships and community, life transitions, anti-oppression, polyamory and monogamy, stress, anger, grief, shame, values clarification, boundaries, hope, acceptance, and integrity. I also counsel and provide consultation about recovery from experiences of undue influence, coercion and exploitation, such as those common with con-artists and groups with cult-like features.
