My Approach to Helping

Life and motherhood are not without their challenges, even in the best of circumstances. I see you. And I get you. This is why my practice specializes in working with women's issues and motherhood. There is an enormous amount of change that happens at our core when we become mothers. It is seldom in our culture today to observe rites of passages and to acknowledge and celebrate this pivotal transformation to motherhood. I want to honor that and you.

I believe that connection is key - connection to ourselves and in our relationships. When we are connected and embodied, we live in the fullness of who we are. This then transforms the connections around us, whether it be with our children, partners, family, or friends.

I take a holistic approach to healing, highlighting the importance of attending to both the body and mind. "Bottom-up" approaches are employed to support the lower portions of your brain - the part that is outside of logical thought and language. Eye-Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing (EMDR) and Brainspotting are two modalities I use, in particular, to treat trauma. Cognitive-Behavior Therapy (CBT) is useful when working through negative thoughts we carry around with us (e.g., thoughts associated with not being good enough).

More Info About My Practice

I bring horses into the healing work! Horses help us become more aware of what's going on around us and inside us, which supports the work of connection.

I also have a cozy office on site to offer more "traditional" approaches to treatment. Office work includes traditional talk therapy, as well as brain-based therapies such as EMDR and Brainspotting.

Importance of the Client-Therapist Alliance

There are numerous theories and treatment approaches for helping people! However, the one factor that is consistent in creating positive change in therapy is the relationship between the therapist and client. Therapy is a space to be vulnerable and to share difficult parts of one's life.

Therefore, it is essential that you feel safe and comfortable with your therapist. It is about the right "fit" between you and your therapist. Because I believe so strongly in finding the right therapist for you, I offer a free 15 minute consultation for you to meet with me and determine if I am the right therapist for you.
