My Approach to Helping
Have you been struggling with something and can't seem to figure it out? Have you been suffering from difficult emotions? Have you been through trauma and want to learn to live your life with the memories? Do you just need someone in your corner? Well, you've come to the right place, even just searching for a therapist is progress, so welcome! My approach to therapy is through a trauma-informed lens. When you work with me, I will use a person-centered approach, showing each individual the utmost respect, unconditional positive regard, and empathetic support to help you reach your goals, explore your values, and create a life worth living. I tend to have a very eclectic approach to therapy; however, I am eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) trained and tend to use several dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) techniques. I have been practicing in the field of behavioral health for over 10 years, providing counseling services since 2013, and working with several different populations and diagnoses throughout that time. I have the longest experience working with adults who have serious mental illness. This is where I developed my love of helping people in all walks of life heal through their trauma. I have worked for several years with adults who have symptoms of bipolar, borderline personality, anger, anxiety, grief, posttraumatic stress (PTSD), adult children of narcissistic parents, and many others.
