My Approach to Helping

The best predictor of a client's success in therapy is having a positive and strong therapeutic relationship with their therapist. My primary focus is developing a strong therapeutic alliance with each of my clients. This allows me to provide an individualized treatment approach for each of my clients with the ultimate goal for them to develop an independent ability to utilize and apply skills or strategies from therapy to improve their lives. I was trained as a generalist and graduated from an APA-accredited program in 2017. I have worked with a variety of clients across all stages of life with their own unique challenges to address in therapy. I have extensive experience in working with anxiety, depression, addiction, trauma, stage of life changes, griefloss, intimate partner violence, LGBTQIA+, men's issues, identity development, assertiveness, and working with adolescents. Being trained in a variety of treatment approaches, I routinely blend different therapeutic styles, such as REBT (a version of cognitive behavioral therapy), solution-focused therapy, motivational interviewing, emotion-focused therapy, and person-centered therapy, to provide my clients with tailored interventions to meet their specific needs. I recognize that taking the initial steps to find a therapist can be a difficult or intimidating task. The relationship between a client and their therapist is unlike any other relationship and I take the trust you place in me very seriously. In an effort to earn that trust, I would like to offer a bit of insight into who I am. I am married, a "bonus dad" to three, and an Arizona transplant of over 20 years. I am definitely team dog, but harbor no ill will towards cats. I love to go off-roading, camping, and I am a TERRIBLE fly fisherman (but I love it, and keep trying to improve). I love to cook and frequently BBQ (real BBQ) for family and friends. I enjoy police drama TV shows, Michael Crichton is my favorite author, and Monty Python and the Holy Grail is the best movie ever made.
