My Approach to Helping
My approach to therapy can be summarized as being focused on the therapeutic relationship. warm, direct, and collaborative. As the therapeutic relationship grows, I at times challenge clients to grow; however, I believe communication should be bidirectional, and I insist on clients being allowed to challenge me back and have a voice on where we take treatment. In session, I often do attachment work which often powerfully helps clients to understand how their histories and relationships within their families of origin may be impact how they presently relate to themselves and others.
My tone and approach tend to be warm and humane. I do this in order to help create a trusting, non-judgmental environment in which meaningful challenging and discourse can occur. I would also say that I am lovingly direct in my communication, which helps with maintaining boundaries and interpersonal trust.
