My Approach to Helping

I believe one of the bravest things you can do is to face the deep and dark areas of your story, come eye to eye with your fears, and believe that you deserve to live a life of peace and fulfillment. Having a counselor who will meet you where you are in your process and provide a safe environment, can help reduce nervousness associated with starting counseling services. I want to help you process life events, challenge destructive thinking, improve your ability to navigate difficult situations and live a fulfilling life.

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in Alabama. I am interested in working with children, adolescents, young adults, couples, and families. I have experience assisting clients with various concerns including anxiety, depression, social isolation, relationship concerns, academic performance concerns, oppositional defiant behaviors, grief, loss, and more.
If you are looking for a counselor who is authentic and provides a safe space for you to share your concerns and goals, then I would love the opportunity to work with you! Each day is filled with new challenges, adventures, and sometimes unplanned events. Honestly, the ambiguous nature of life can be overwhelming at times. Let’s discuss how I can help!

What I Say to People Concerned about the Therapy Process

Choosing to start therapy services can lead to various emotions. You might feel nervous or even scared to begin this process. In your first session you will have the opportunity to meet with your therapist, learn more about their counseling approach, and decide if you are a good fit for each other. If at any time you have concerns about the therapy process, the therapy space is the perfect environment to discuss your concerns with your therapist.

Importance of the Client-Therapist Alliance

I believe this the most important aspect of therapy. As a therapist, I aim to provide a safe, warm, and welcoming environment for my client. I also aim to build trust with my clients by presenting as my authentic self, encouraging clients to present as authentic, and providing unconditional positive regard. This also means that I am nonjudgmental in session, allowing my clients to freely share their world with me. If the client and therapist do not form a therapeutic alliance, it might be difficult for the client to comfortably share their experiences and concerns. They are also more likely to experience challenges in progression toward identified treatment goals.
