My Approach to Helping
I'm Brittney (she/her), a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 10 years of experience as a therapist and 20 years of experience as a social worker in the mental health field. I'm currently able to see folks in Wisconsin and Washington State. I enjoy working with folx in the LGBTQIA+ community, helpers and healers, folks experiencing symptoms of anxiety and depression, and those looking for support as they navigate their healing journey. My approach to therapy is one of partnership with a focus on healing and growth. I enjoy walking alongside and with people as they reconnect with what makes them uniquely who they are. I approach therapy through a body-positive, sex-positive, whole person-affirming lens. Building trust and safety is my priority. At this time, I only offer telehealth appointments.
More Info About My Practice
I started my private practice in 2025 so that I could be more accessible to people in my community and provide the kind of care I could feel good about. I chose the name Sunny Harbor Therapy and Consulting, LLC for my business to honor three women who showed me the power and importance of kindness. During high school, I worked at a hair salon called Sunny Harbor and the women who worked there were safe anchors in my life when I needed them the most. They held up a light when my world was darkest and inspired me to go into social work as a profession so I could try to do the same. I believe that we all can be a light in the lives of others, no matter the length of time or the circumstances of our time together. My approach to therapeutic work honors the idea of being a light and a helpful anchor when folks need it the most.
Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With
I worked within two large healthcare systems over the past 10 years with a partial focus on healthcare providers' mental health. I work well with folks in the healthcare world because I understand the unique stressors inherent in this field; both as a therapist for healthcare workers and a provider of healthcare services as part of a hospital team. Taking care of yourself often comes last. I'm here to tell you it doesn't have to be.
