My Approach to Helping
I'm a person-centered therapist who looks for solutions-oriented, problem-solving outcomes to benefit my clients. I lean towards Cognitive approaches but aim to adapt my style for whomever I treat to tailor the interventions in a strengths-based affirmative manner that will resonate and be most effective for that person's needs.
I specialize in affirmative LGBTQ+ psychotherapy but can adapt my style into a wide range of concerns. My Bachelors of Science undergraduate degree, while lacking emphasis, focused on cognitive psychology Neuropsychology and iterations thereof. I tend to build off the rapport with clients and utilize appropriate levels of humor in my sessions to build confidence and trust with them to achieve an outcome where they feel seen and heard by someone who may understand them. My personal background, while lacking in the usual trauma stigma associated with the Community, has been bolstered by my knowledge of the issues and politics pre-Stonewall giving me the unique insight to see clients who identify as such with both the positive support of affirmation and the understanding of the discrimination they may face. This translates to other marginalized groups. I aim to make myself adaptable to whoever walks through my "door" and join with them in their pain or distress to achieve the most optimal outcome possible.
