My Approach to Helping
My name is Carolyn Goosby, I am an experienced licensed clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and pastoral counselor for over twenty years. I am a great listener and encourager. I am an ordained and Licensed Minster. Spiritual growth and faith development are key areas that are central to my personal life and practice. Relationships, serving, and caring are part of my core values. I have an earned Doctorate degree in Ministry (D.Min.) along with a master's of Divinity (M.Div.) from the Chicago Theological Seminary. I have a client-centered therapeutic approach. Mostly I work with the Adult population, with grief support, anxiety,
depression, workplace issues, and relationship issues.
I have a person-centered approach and a non-judgemental stance. I'm resolution focused yet compassionate. This also calls for an eclectic situational framework. Typically I assist adult clients with grief, anxiety, depression, and relationship or workplace issues, low self-esteem issues, Spiritual development, etc. A casual, soft, open, relaxed, and comforting is the type of environment I seek to create. My tone and style are generally non-confrontational for the most part. There was a women chaplain on the police force that was counseling on duty and going to seminary she was a great influence in my life and call to become a counselor and minister. I had the desire to help people that were struggling to live life as best they could with little to zero resources. I wanted to help change lives for the better.
We establish the treatment goals initially and review them on a regular or weekly basis for progress. Clients should expect the completion of the initial assessment, baseline established treatment plan, review of policies, review next steps, provide contact information, (opening & closing prayer if appropriate), set next appointments time, QA, and session summary.
