My Approach to Helping
Hello. I am a licensed independent social worker LISW. I have been practicing in the social work field for 20 years. I have worked with many populations, including children, adults, and older adults. I specialize in working with children, teens, adults, older adults, and individuals who have been diagnosed with anxiety, phobias, depression, personality disorders, PTSD, and bipolar disorders. I utilize several counseling techniques including cognitive behavioral therapy, solution-focused therapy, and motivational interviewing. The modality choice will depend upon your needs and your comfort level. I would love to hear from you and help you to attain your treatment goals.
I typically use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Solution Focused Therapy, and Supportive Therapy and encourage self-care and mindfulness exercises.
I have had experience working with many different populations and behavioral health diagnoses. I have the most experience working with teens, adults, and older adults. I am comfortable treating individuals with depression, anxiety, PTSD, personality disorders, and bipolar disorders.
During the first visit, I ask a lot of questions in order to best gauge the individual's needs and treatment goals. The treatment process typically starts during the second session. I am supportive but also encourage the individual to try different techniques to better their situation. I can be reached by phone or email if needed in-between visits.
I started my career working in the social services field, helping children and adults who have been subjected to abuse and neglect. I went on to help older adults with physical and mental health conditions navigate community resources to ensure that their needs were being met. I then moved on to just providing therapy to individuals to continue my path in the helping field. I have always been dedicated to helping others and will continue down this path until the end of my career.
The client and I will discuss treatment goals during the first session and will revisit them and update them regularly.
The initial session is like an assessment in which I ask many questions in order to determine the individual's needs.
