My Approach to Helping
Since I completed graduate studies in Clinical Social Work at the University of NC at Wilmington, I have worked in the field of medical social work, hospice and private practice for over a decade. I have found that grief and loss, anxiety and confidence building are my natural strengths when working with clients.
I have always had a great passion for assisting others through challenges by creating a non-judgmental and relaxed safe place to process the difficulties that we all face during our lives. Although an online platform is not the traditional treatment environment, I have found that it allows my clients to remain in their homes or private place of their choosing for sessions while also increasing availability to a larger population that may not have been reached otherwise. My practice is completely online for this reason. I look forward to meeting with you and please feel free to reach out with any further questions or inquiries.
More Info About My Practice
Do you need support, but can’t make it to an in-person appointment? Are you a busy stay-at-home or working parent, and don’t have the time to drive across town for an appointment?
Do you live in a more rural area, or maybe you prefer to just do things virtually?
If so, we can help you through virtual therapy; also referred to by many as telehealth.
Telehealth allows us to provide counseling and therapy to our clients via live video conferencing. This can be done anywhere you have a computer or smartphone.
Telehealth appointments can be very beneficial if getting to a traditional in-person appointment is not convenient, or you simply just don’t want to.
Our telehealth solution allows you to schedule an appointment directly online and have the entire therapy session take place digitally. While you don’t need a video camera, we do recommend you use one. To learn more and get started with virtual therapy, please contact us today.
Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With
Self-Esteem:
Do you recognize negative self-talk?
Together we can work to find what false narratives you may have adopted over the years that you have accepted as truth. These narratives directly effect our self-worth and self-esteem; it can be as simple as shifting your narrative and choosing positive change.
Lacking Confidence?
Do you often feel that you are not good enough or question your self-worth? We all are challenged with negative thoughts about ourselves at some point in our lives. Let's work together at building a healthy self-esteem which will in turn build confidence; knowing that you are the only one stopping yourself from greater things! Let's do this!!!
Grief and Loss or Life Transitions:
Losing a loved one to death will present differently for everyone and every relationship. You may feel alone and misunderstood because your grief response is unique to you. You don't have to continue this difficult journey alone; reach out and we can work together to process the loss, make meaning of the experience and find your healthier path forward.
We can experience grief due to various life changes such as health limitations, job loss or career changes such as retirement, empty nest when the children move away, divorce, moving to a new location and the list can go on. Any life transition can feel scary and overwhelming, even painful at times. People can experience such things as depressed mood, anxiety, reduction of self-esteem, appetite shifts and changes in sleep patterns.
Working together to identify obvious and then not so obvious contributors to the emotional, physical and mental responses to the loss, can help with healing in your life. Reach out today to explore your unique options in the healing journey.
Anxiety:
Worry too often?
Ruminating on what is to come creates expectations that can cause discomfort and fear regarding the future. By shifting perspectives, together we can reduce or reframe these negative thought processes to create peaceful and proactive behavioral and thought patterns moving forward.
Feeling Anxious?
Anxiety can manifest into physical symptoms such as sweating, shaking or tremor, or even a racing heart.
Anxiety can create negative or untrue thought patterns that can increase the severity of symptoms; excessive worry.
Anxiety can create emotional responses such as fear, frustration, or even anger due to self-limiting beliefs.
You absolutely have the power to change your life!
Psychotherapy can assist in exploring perspectives that can set you free from these uncomfortable experiences created by anxiety and excessive worry; let's break the chains of self-limiting beliefs and instead move towards an exciting new beginning in your life.
"The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change."
