My Approach to Helping
Hello, I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Virginia with over 20 years of experience providing mental health treatment to diverse clients with a wide range of concerns. I specialize in treating anxiety, stressburnout, depression, careerworkplace challenges, ADHD, relationship with foodmindful eating, relationship issues, helping families navigate substance abuse, support for autismneurodiversity, and grief and loss. I am an ally to the LGBTQIA+ community. I also have extensive experience in helping nurses, physicians, residents, and other frontline caregivers with their unique concerns.
I hold an M.Ed. from Harvard and a Ph.D. from William and Mary. My counseling style is warm, interactive, and collaborative. I believe in treating everyone with respect and compassion as we explore the journey that brings you to therapy. My approach combines person-centered, cognitive-behavioral therapy, mindfulness practices, family systems, brief solution-focused, trauma-informed care, and biopsychosocial theories. It is my mission to compassionately support and guide individuals to find more inner peace, joy, vitality, and well-being in their lives. It takes strength and courage to seek help. I am here to help empower you to make the changes you seek in your life. I typically have a sleeping dog in my session—please let me know in advance if you have another preference.
