My Approach to Helping
I see therapy as an active and collaborative process between therapist and client. For therapy to be most effective, it is critical to feel safe and heard within the therapeutic environment. I strive to create a nonjudgmental and compassionate therapeutic space in addition to offering evidence-based expertise and guidance along the way. As humans, we do not exist in a vacuum. In other words, we are embedded within many layers and identities (e.g., culture, raceethnic background, gender, family, etc.) and I believe it is important to acknowledge and honor how these influences show up in our lives and shape our experience. I take an integrative approach to therapy, individualized to meet the client's needs, primarily utilizing a relational, strengths-based, cognitive-behavioral, and compassion-focused approach.
