My Approach to Helping

Hi there! Transitioning into college, finding a new job, or even learning that you have a newly diagnosed, chronic illness? You do not have to walk this journey alone! I am here to create a safe space for each client to find strength, process their emotions within their new exploration, and regain balance in their life. As your counselor, my plan is to meet you where you are, with encouragement and non-judgment. My goal is to empower you to take charge and become the expert of your life. I like to tailor techniques based on what you are comfortable with. My most used modalities are mindfulness and cognitive behavioral therapy. You are the driver, and I am in the passenger seat holding directions!

I have expertise in anxiety and stress management, college counseling, self-esteem building, career development, and counseling for chronic illness. I like to think that sessions with me feel more like a conversation vs. me talking "at" you. I want you, the client, to feel as an equal. Imagine us sipping tea and conversing about your most recent anxiety-driven experience and how we can work together to practice a healthy way of coping. And sometimes we will add some humor to the mix!

I've always wanted to assist others in finding purpose in their lives and to remind them that they matter. I've worked in hospital settings, clinics, homes, schools, and universities. From each experience, my passion has remained to provide a safe space for clients to find balance, purpose, and practice self-care. I like to first ask what was the last straw that guided you to therapy. From there, tell me 3 things that you want to change in your daily life between now and the next 3 months in counseling. The goals are not set in stone and can always be reassessed, this is the first step in the right direction.

The first session is the first time we get to learn from one another. I will introduce myself, my hobbies, and what therapy can look like for us. Then the floor is yours! You can discuss your hobbies or even go straight into what is on your mind for the session. I am also readily available for questions you may have within the session.
