My Approach to Helping
Good Day! My name is Christopher Legan. I have been practicing as a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor for the last 20 years. I have worked with children, the elderly, and adults. For the last 12 years, I worked on the inpatient units providing individual and group therapies to those patients on the adolescent, adult, and senior behavioral health units. My approach is an integrative style with proficiencies in Cognitive Behavioral and Dialectical Behavioral therapies along Solution Focused, Rational Emotive, Emotion focused, Acceptance Commitment, Gestalt, Biofeedback, Mindfulness and Meditation, and Person-Centered. My approach is to listen and understand your situation(s) to help reduce the symptoms of emotional distress and make our existence more meaningful.
As a client, I will encourage you to have a goal in mind for the sessions and from that there to explore areas that help understand behaviors, cognitions, and emotions. I am direct and exploratory in my therapeutic approach. I will not hold back and I will share my perspectives in an effort to enlighten my client(s). My goal is to promote the goals you seek from counseling and to assure that you know yourself better than when you began counseling. I am a therapist that does not waste time yet I will cover the basic demographics and safety checks. I encourage my clients to initiate an area to explore.
