My Approach to Helping
I have been working in social services and mental health for over twenty years. I pride myself on creating a compassionate environment free of judgement and high on empathy. I believe therapy is a collaborative process between client and therapist. As such, clients create goals, while therapists are present to assist in reaching them. I strive to create an environment which is affirming and comfortable. I often use humor and self disclosure, as a way to increase the therapeutic relationship when appropriate. Additionally, I regularly challenge clients in their assumptions regarding thoughts, behaviors, and interpersonal interactions. I use a variety of therapeutic modalities in my practice, tailoring therapy to the individual client(s) I am serving.
I specialize in helping men (cis het and non cis het) to process concerns regarding sexual functioning, gender and sexual orientation exploration, and kinksexual fetish interests or questioning. I also often serve members of the LGBTQ community who are struggling with sex, intimacy, gender, and orientation concerns to better understand themselves and social inequalities they face. The work with these two populations serves to improve the quality of their lives and relationships. While I often serve these populations, I have extensive work experience with clients of various backgrounds. I work with individuals and couples and am licensed to practice in Pennsylvania, Delaware, New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut.
