Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With

Marriage counseling is my number one speciality. Since the time I applied to graduate school, I have steered my training towards adult relationship issues. In my clinical psychology graduate program, I studied under James McCary, Ph.D. who had started the first undergraduate course in the country in adult relationships and at the time had helped launch all the other such programs around the country. He had been nominated for president of the American Psychological association. I taught eleven semesters of the Marriage and Family Living course as a teaching fellow, then went on to present hundreds of seminars and workshops on adult relationship issues, including those to train other mental health professionals in marriage counseling. Since 1987 I have had the pleasure of spending the vast majority of my professional life directly helping clients fulfill their relationship dreams and training other mental health professionals to do likewise. My interest, knowledge, training, and experience have always been in assisting others to bring out the best in each other and to make life increasingly wonderful for each other. I would love to do so with you.

My Role as a Therapist

As a counselor my role is to assist my clients in bringing out the best in themselves and others. I seek to create a warm, friendly, positive environment that may make it easier for us to open up honestly and deeply about our inner thoughts and feelings as well as out behaviors. We then work together to collaboratively assess what has happened and how to accomplish your personal and relationship goals. Numerous psychological approaches and techniques may then be used to assist you in understanding, enhancing, and experiencing your ability to bring out the best in yourself and others. I would love to assist you in doing so.
