My Approach to Helping
My name is Clay Markwell and I am a Licensed Addiction Counselor (LAC) and Licensed Professional Counselor Candidate (LPCC). I provide a space where clients can safely explore their pain, find meaning even in suffering, and reconnect with their innate capacity for growth and change. I’ve been involved in the recovery and mental health community for nine years—initially as a person in recovery and later as a professional in the field. This combination of lived experience and formal practice has deeply shaped my therapeutic approach.
Sessions balance honesty with empathy, allowing clients to feel seen, understood, and encouraged. Rather than concealing our humanness behind professional
detachment, I bring my full self into our sessions because it's our shared humanity—the
imperfections and the beauty—that fosters deep healing and change. I offer a direct and authentic approach to therapy, providing blunt feedback and practical steps so you leave each session with tangible actions that create real progress toward the life you desire.
