My Approach to Helping
Life is a journey, and sometimes the path may not be clear or can prove to be challenging. My counseling approach is eclectic, and I believe it is essential that we work together to promote change. I will work with you to identify issues and set goals. I use a variety of techniques, and you will often have an assignment or an activity to complete between sessions. I love working with adults, adolescents, and children. I volunteer with several organizations and facilitate grief groups for adolescents and their parents. I am a licensed professional counselor in the state of Georgia. I am also a National Certified Counselor, a National Certified School Counselor, and a Certified Trauma Specialist. I have been a school counselor for 28 years in both elementary and middle school settings. I have been in private practice and taught classes for the University of Phoenix for over 10 years. I received my EdD in Counseling Psychology from Argosy University, and my BBA in Marketing, MEd in Community Counseling, and EdS in School Counseling are all from the University of West Georgia. I am married to my best friend, and together we have a blended family. His son was two when we were married, and we have a daughter together. Every person and every situation is unique, and I approach each client with this in mind. It takes courage to take the first step towards change, and I would love to support and work with you on this journey.
