My Approach to Helping
I am light-hearted, warm and empathetic by nature, and I enjoy the work I do. I use practical therapeutic strategies and techniques to help you manage the distressing situations you face. Together, we'll practice and process exercises during sessions, and I typically provide you with between-sessions materials to practice and process 'out in the real world.'
The journey to quality mental health care is more important than ever before. I'm happy to hear from you to learn where you want to go with your own mental health journey.
How Psychotherapy Can Help
The psychotherapy process brings a basic level of awareness that in turn helps people. For example, people who ask for help with dealing with their anger, often come with the notion that they are angry people. Gaining proper perspective on the idea that anger is one of many emotions we feel each and every day, makes dealing with anger more about behavior than character flaw. I feel that it is helpful to look at what it is about feeling angry that is causing so many problems in a person's life. Learning different ways of thinking and coping with the everyday stuff that gets us "riled up" can help a person deal with stressful times much more effectively.
