My Approach to Helping
Welcome! I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with a master's degree in Mental Health Counseling. I have a passion for helping others and have over 12 years of experience in the Mental Health field. First five years of my career I worked alongside a team of professionals in a clinic that provided treatment for various issues including, ADHD, anger, anxiety, depression, self-mutilation, grief and trauma to children, adolescents and adults. This is where I learned the foundation of how mental illness affects people's ability to function daily, maintain healthy relationships, education and vocational needs and live a happy life. I was also able to see how diagnosing, testing and treatments can have a positive effect in recovery. From there I moved on to work with the military population, were I provide solution-focused therapy to service members and their families. Working with the Military has sharpened my skills and provided me with the ability to help individuals and couples with issues in communication, conflict resolution, infidelity and trust, intimacy that are affected by deployment cycle, separation and relocation.
I am confident in my abilities and professionalism to provide a safe, relaxed and caring environment in order to help couples with their needs and challenges. I have the energy, motivation and skills to provide couples build a healthy relationship through rebuilding trust, bonding, better communication, intimacy, vulnerability. My preferred approaches when working with couples are emotionally- focused couples therapy, Gottman modalities and Chapman Marriage and Family Therapy.
