My Approach to Helping

I have a warm yet direct style. I help my clients notice their triggers and patterns. By bringing to negative thoughts and unhelpful behaviors to awareness, clients are able to start making the necessary changes to get unstuck and on the path to a more intentional life.

Did you know that it\'s the relationship that heals? More than any one technique, the therapeutic alliance is the major reason people get better. Warmth and empathic listening are at the heart of our therapy together, From, there, we will build on your strengths and integrate therapeutic approaches that are backed up by scientific research to get you feeling better.

Having established a strong therapeutic relationship, we will start challenging some of your negative beliefs or behavioral patterns. My style is refreshingly genuine and authentic, direct yet warm. You will have a better understanding of the problem, develop insight, and learn skills to deal with what life has brought you.

Together we will identify the necessary changes for what is in your control, or help you learn to cope with the demands of life that are outside of your control. Even though you may feel overwhelmed or helpless, life is not hopeless when we stop avoiding the problems and decide to face them heads-on. Even though we cannot change the past, we can change our relationship to it, reframe the ways your view problems, re-script your life narrative, and find more adaptive ways to handle what life will bring you in the future. Email me for an appointment request to get started on your journey towards healing and self-actualization.

More Info About My Practice

My office is located near Tatum Blvd and Shea, overlooking Stonecreek Golf Course in N. Phoenix. Telehealth via secure video is also available. I have worked in the field for over 15 years, and I am licensed in two countries. In addition to being a licensed psychologist, I am a mom of two little ones who are growing up too fast.

What Makes up a Problem?

Have you heard of " Live, Love, Laugh"? This is how I teach my clients to know what issues to bring to therapy. If the problem (whatever name you give it, be anxiety, depression, etc,) is interfering with your ability to: a) Live life (being able to work, go places, attend to your self-care, sleep) like you normally would-- that issue should be brought into therapy; b) Love (start and maintain relationships whether it be romantic, family or friends, relate to those you love)-- that issue should be brought into therapy; c) Laugh (have fun, relax, enjoy yourself)-- that issue should be brought to therapy. If you are asking yourself whether you need therapy, ask yourself whether your ability to live, love, or laugh like you normally would is negatively impacted. If the answer is yes, send me an email so we can get started.
