My Approach to Helping
Datrese Bradley, Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor. We will discuss your goals and identify barriers as we explore alternate methods of handling stressors. I focus on thinking and behavior patterns that affect your functioning. I will provide support and rebuild boundaries and decision-making while exploring a person’s past trauma. I use a Person-Centered approach to counseling. I will utilize techniques from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Eye-Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, and Trauma-Focused modalities to assist my clients in meeting their therapeutic goals.
I work with clients from various backgrounds. I specialize in trauma, depression, anxiety, and relationships. I am comfortable treating any of the above-listed symptoms as well as obsessive and personality disorders. I am an adaptable Therapist. I can be very calm and relaxed while also being a guide in the therapeutic relationship if my clients struggle with effective communication. Working with me feels like you are speaking to someone who cares about your growth and overall functioning. You will feel heard and respected, you will feel that your decisions are the main focus of each session.
I became a therapist because I understood the importance of being heard. I never received the support I needed in school because I didn’t experience enough trauma for anyone to care. I knew that no person should feel ignored or less than because of their past. I became a therapist because I genuinely care about the growth of others and I understand and accept individual differences, choices, and responses to trauma. I became a therapist to help those that are seeking assistance. We will discuss where you are currently and where you would like to be. We will identify barriers to your functioning. We will review areas of success and failure. We will identify realistic goals that will allow the client to observe progress along the journey.
During your first session, you should expect to be heard. I will listen to your story as I complete the intake information. You will not feel bombarded with a lot of questions, I will allow you to discuss what led you to therapy. Your first session will set the tone for determining your course of treatment. You will have the opportunity to build a therapeutic relationship with me during the first session.
