My Approach to Helping

I help men, women and couples resolve uncomfortable emotions such as anger, fear, anxiety, grief, resentment, and bitterness.

Are you tired of having the same argument over and over again with your spouse? Together we will look for the message under the surface of unmet needs and desires and learn how to communicate them in a way your spouse can hear. Perhaps you and your partner have been through difficult times and instead of drawing together as a team, you are feeling more and more isolated. Let's break the ice to create a common relationship vision and a map to build intimacy rather than isolation.

As a Certified Grief Recovery Specialist, I use the process described in "The Grief Recovery Handbook" by John James & Russell Friedman, to help those suffering from loss take the necessary steps to resolve overwhelming emotions. Grief can result from any number of over 43 life events that cause stress including death of a loved one, divorce or relationship break-up, foreclosure, moving, change or loss of job, empty nest, etc. We can work together to create a plan to complete your grief from life losses.

I can also provide Christian counseling for those who would like this approach. I have a 20 year background in church ministry and leadership.

For couples, I provide the Gottman Method Couples Therapy to assess the relationship and provide interventions to improve relationship communication and connection.

Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With

Anxiety is a common concern for people when they begin to delve deeper into the matters of the heart. Often times anxiety (or anger) is a cover or cap for a swirling tide of unacknowledged emotions. Using internal family systems therapy I help my clients separate out strand by strand the confusing jumble of mixed feelings about the difficulties in their lives. I provide a safe place to look at anger, fear, resentment and other emotions in conflict with your goals and work through each one so that you can have more peace.

Unresolved grief is a often a hidden barrier to peace, joy and a vibrant quality of life. Together we can take a look at where grief may be robbing you of the hope and peace for your future.

For those who request Christian counseling, I am well equipped to help you examine the stresses you've experienced within the context of a Christian worldview. I help my clients strengthen or reestablish connection with God through inner healing prayer.
