My Approach to Helping
Dr. Diane Hovey works as a marriage and family therapist assisting individuals, families and couples in addressing life altering challenges such as grief, loss, guilt, anxiety, depression, marital problems and other life stressors that impede people's abilities to navigate the uncertainties of life. Sometimes families fall apart and need help rebuilding healthy relationships. Whatever the need, I help my clients find practical and down to earth ways to address their specific life challenge. Client goals may include emotional healing, finding understanding, improved communication, clarity of vision, developing more loving relationships or achieving mindfulness in living.
Building resilience in the face of tragedy is a focus of interest. Disability and chronic illness can be especially stressful on families and relationships. It can be difficult to make sense out of the senseless. I assist client as they reshape and restructure their lives.

It is important to note that most insurance companies do not cover marital or couples therapy regardless of who the therapist may be.

On the Fence About Going to Therapy?
When we break an arm or get an infection, we seek the medical help we need in order to heal. Our emotional or mental health is equally important and plays a huge role in healing and well-being. When over stressed or in a mental state that weighs us down, our immune system is depressed and our ability to heal physically or emotionally is hindered. Seeking therapy is smart; it is not a sign of weakness. Improved mental health also improves our immune system and our ability to manage life challenges.
